As we are increasingly using our computers from home we are beginning to notice those frequent crashes or times that they slow down.
Below we detail the recommended areas to focus on to make sure your device is running at the optimal level:
1) Use the built in Windows 10 Performance mode setting to cut out any background features that you don't need to be running. This ensures that your device is fully focussed on the work in hand.
2) Use the start-up tab built into Task Manager to customise background applications. From here you can decide which applications run when you turn on / restart your device.
3) Use the MSConfig utility to customise the background services that are running. Again this ensures that any services that are not required do not start-up
4) Use the Registry editor (with caution) to customise the hidden applications that run in the background
5) Uninstall any applications that you no longer need, not so much to free up space but to clear up some of the background processes and files.
6) Use the Disk cleanup tool to clear temporary files and advanced cached Windows Update files
7) Get your device up to date using Windows Update. This ensures that you have the latest security updates and addresses any problems that have been identified by Microsoft.
With all 7 steps applied you will notice an increase in speed of your computer and will resolve the vast majority of error messages/crashes.
